Did you know that nearly three quarters of commercial property losses come from leaks related to appliances, plumbing, and HVAC systems?  Commercial water damage is one of the most expensive and frequent small business claims.  It does not take much to face an insurance claim when it comes to your business and water damage.  That is why SERVPRO of Northwest Benton County is here to help when you experience water damage in your Bentonville business.

Here are four steps to take when your Bentonville commercial property experiences water damage.  First, identify the source of the water damage.  Water leaks can happen in many places.  Common places to check are pipes, holes in your roof, or holes in the walls.  In some cases, a plumber maybe needed to identify the water source.  Step two, if necessary, shut off the water main.  If you have a burst pipe, shut off the water main to prevent more damage.  Step three, contact your insurance carrier.  Quickly notify your insurance company.  Taking photos of the damage is a good policy.  Contact a restoration company, like SERVPRO, is the fourth step.  Choosing a quality restoration company that works with commercial insurance companies is important.

Three potential causes of commercial property water damage include burst or leaking pipes, ongoing roof leaks, and refrigerator or dishwasher leaks.  These three causes of water damage can be less of a threat, with routine checks.

Preventing Water Damage in your Springdale Business

This burst pipe was not insulted causing water damage to this commercial business

A burst pipe can cause your business to close.  The lost revenue and the cost of repairs could be devastating.  A water-related event can be financially devastating to your Springdale business.  When you experience freezing or flooding the incident may force your business to close for mitigation and repairs.

If your commercial business or non-profit experiences water damage, contact SERVPRO of Fayetteville/Springdale to quickly mitigate the damage.  While insurance plays a crucial role in lessening the financial impact, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.  The following tips will help protect your business from water disasters.

  1. Insulate exposed pipes

Properly insulating pipes is the best way to prevent frozen pipes.  Dropping temperatures and wind can freeze water inside pipes causing the pipe to burst.  Poorly insulated pipes are vulnerable to freezing temperatures, especially at night.

  1. Seal cracks and gaps

Keeping cold air out and warm air in helps to make your home or commercial building more energy efficient and reduces the risk of frozen pipes.  Use caulk, sealants, and weather stripping to seal cracks, gaps and holes in your buildings exterior and foundation.

  1. Keep heat at sufficient levels

Keep the thermostat above 50 degrees, even if the building is vacant.  Nighttime temperatures can be significantly colder than daytime temperatures.  These differences in temperature increase the risk of freezing pipes.  Keeping an eye on your thermostat and replacing the batteries in the thermostat will help keep your pipes from freezing and bursting.

  1. Inspect gutters and drainage

Leaves and debris can cause water damage to the exterior and interior walls of your home or business.  Inspecting your home or business’s gutters and drainage systems for debris will help prevent water damage.  Having a professional clean the gutters will help ensure water drains properly and away from your home or business.

SERVPRO of Fayetteville/Springdale should be your first choice for any residential or commercial restoration.  Our team of professionals is trained to assess the damage, identify potential threats, respond quickly to extract the water and restore your property to preloss condition.  SERVPRO of Fayeteville/Springdale is available 24/7 by calling 479-419-5544.

Fire Prevention for your Garage in Springdale

11/25/2020 (Permalink)

SERVPRO has the skills to mitigate and restore your fire damage, but let’s mitigate the risk first!

SERVPRO has the skills to mitigate and restore your fire damage, but let’s mitigate the risk first!

The kitchen and the garage are the two most common sources of fire damage. You store cars in the garage, meaning there are commonly things like gas or oil in your garage. Be careful keeping items like this stored in an enclosed space in your home. Then with the addition of the other miscellaneous items that people store in their garage, we have a recipe for a fire disaster if something were to go wrong.

As with anything else when it comes to fire damage in your garage, being proactive is the best defense to keep your home as safe as possible from fire. Fuels, fluids, and cleaners should be sealed properly, and flammable materials stored away from elements.

If the worst has already happened and a fire broke out, you need to call SERVPRO. We are a professionally trained fire damage remediation company, and we have the tools and knowledge to help you restore your home back to its original condition.

Electrical devices in a garage need to be used carefully. Do not overload the circuit box, and unplug any units when not in use. You should also have a fire extinguisher in your garage. Clear any clutter out of your garage, as it makes it safer when you are walking around, but also cuts down on the probability of a fire spreading in the event of an emergency.

Flammable liquids need to be stored in small amounts and away from heat sources of any kind such as space heaters, vents, and pilot lights. Also, keep propane tanks outdoors. They are equipped and made sturdy for outdoor storage.

After a fire, there are several forms of damage including smoke and soot, plus water damage from putting the fire out. SERVPRO technicians take care of all of it for you, restoring anything salvageable, cleaning up the smoke and soot, and drying out the area and your possessions.
Fires in garages can spread just as quickly, if not faster, than other areas of your home due to the nature of the items stored there. Give SERVPRO a call as soon as the fire is safely out so we can salvage as much as possible.

SERVPRO of Fayetteville/Springdale should be your first choice for any residential or commercial restoration needs. Our team of professionals is trained to assess the damage and potential threats, extract and contain the affected area, dry, and restore your property to preloss condition.

Commercial Graffiti Removal in Fayetteville

11/5/2020 (Permalink)

Our SERVPRO team is capable of removing graffiti in several different ways.

Have you noticed graffiti on the exterior walls of your business? Are you struggling with stubborn graffiti removal because of the surfaces the graffiti is on? Concrete and other porous materials can be more difficult to clean. Thankfully, SERVPRO is the answer! We can get the graffiti off of the building for you! Our team works to remove stubborn paints and sprays without damaging the building itself. We have a media blast system that will etch away the top layer of concrete where the graffiti soaked into the pores of the concrete and makes it look new again. Media blasting expels an abrasive material at the surface to remove the graffiti. This can also remove soot damage after a fire. SERVPRO can also build a containment area to limit the mess of media blasting. SERVPRO prides itself on bringing your property back to pre-graffiti condition!

SERVPRO of Fayetteville/Springdale should be your first choice for any residential or commercial restoration needs. Our team of professionals is trained to assess the damage and potential threats, extract and contain the affected area, dry, and restore your property to preloss condition.

What You Need to Know About a Multi-level Commercial Water Loss in your Fayetteville Office

10/20/2020 (Permalink)

SERVPRO is Here to Help with any Commercial Mitigation needs--call us immediately!

In a multi-level loss, there are several things you need to keep in mind. When multiple levels are affected, you can assume that the walls are going to be wet and water will travel to the floors below it. Once water has traveled down walls and penetrates subflooring, there needs to be mitigation done to stop the spread of the migrating water.

Once we get an idea of how many rooms and floors are affected, and know where the source of the damage is, we know where to start. A couple of years ago, SERVPRO was called on a job at Frisco – a dorm on the University of Arkansas campus. They had a water event from a frozen pipe that burst over winter break. The damage continued to spread down the levels of the building, but it also spread outwards, covering more of the walls below it. In this case, we began mitigation on the bottom floor and worked our way up.

When we go into a commercial property that has water damage, it’s important to identify the source. First, determine whether or not the water has been stopped. If not, then you will want to turn your water off using the emergency shut off valve.

Once our team goes in, we will determine how much equipment is needed for drying and extraction. At this point we will decide if there is any demolition that needs to be done from materials that will need to be replaced. After demo, we will then take moisture readings all over the home to tell where the moisture levels increase and what is baseline. By monitoring the moisture levels consistently, we will know as we go how the drying process is going, and if more drying time is needed.

Next, we will extract as much of the water as possible using a truck mounted water extracting vacuum. Once we get as much of the moisture out as we can, SERVPRO will monitor the drying process and determine how long it will take the structure to dry. This is done using a math formula to gauge the amount of moisture, the amount of equipment and the materials of the structure. Once the SERVPRO team has dried out the structure, we will take another round of moisture readings to make sure everything that was wet, is now dry.

Even though it may sound like a straightforward process, there are many things that make each and every job very different. From the source of the water, to the part of your home it's in and the type of flooring, all play a part in your water loss. By calling SERVPRO, you get a timely response, a great crew and the satisfaction that once it’s over, it’s over. SERVPRO guarantees that we will stand behind our work and make it “Like it never even happened.”

Holiday Fires in Fayetteville? No, Let’s prevent that!

9/21/2020 (Permalink)

Avoid a dangerous fire this holiday season by decorating mindfully so that you don't cause any unwanted disasters!

Do not let a major disaster crash your plans for the 2020 holidays! I’m sure the last thing you would want is a house fire, but believe it or not, the holidays cause a lot of fires around the end of the year. SERVPRO wants to give you some tips to keep you safe and help you enjoy your holidays. Here are a few holiday safety tips to remember.

Halloween

  • Dried flowers, cornstalks, and crepe paper catch fire easily. Keep all decorations away from open flames and other heat sources like light bulbs and heaters.
  • Use a battery-operated candle or glow-stick in jack-o lanterns. If you use a real candle, use extreme caution. Make sure children are watched at all times when candles are lit. When lighting candles inside jack-o lanterns, use long, fireplace-style matches or a utility lighter.
  • Be sure to place lit pumpkins well away from anything that can burn and far enough out of the way of trick-or-treaters, doorsteps, walkways, and yards.

Thanksgiving

  • Stay in the kitchen when you are cooking on the stovetop so you can keep an eye on the food.
  • Keep matches and utility lighters out of the reach of children — up high in a locked cabinet.
  • If deep-frying your turkey, defrost the turkey COMPLETELY – and dry it before putting it in hot oil.
  • Keep a grease-rated fire extinguisher close by

Christmas

  • Use lights that have the label of a recognized testing laboratory. Some lights are only for indoor or outdoor use.
  • Never use lit candles to decorate the tree.
  • Always turn off Christmas tree lights before leaving home or going to bed.

Commercial Water Leak Damage in Fayetteville Restored by SERVPRO

3/11/2020 (Permalink)

Here are some of the typical causes of water damage to commercial buildings.

When business owners visualize water damage, they often picture a massive storm wiping out power lines, flooding offices, and shutting down businesses for days at a time. It is true that commercial water damage is often the result of floods and water that stems from weather events and storms.

However, many entrepreneurs and business space renters forget that storms and severe weather aren't the only causes of floods and water damage.

1. Malfunctioning sprinkler systems

Some older office and retail buildings have outdated sprinkler systems that work in conjunction with fire protection systems. While such sprinklers can come in handy during a fire emergency, they can also cause commercial flood damage if they are faulty or in need of replacement. This could easily damage inventory and business assets.

2. Damaged appliances and equipment

This cause of commercial flood damage is more common in restaurants and catering facilities, as well as any business that has appliances and equipment that make use of water. If the appliance fails and sends water across your building, especially during late hours when no one is around, you may come back to work and face a water emergency.

3. Broken pipes and plumbing

Just like in a residence, if the plumbing system in your workplace fails water damage could be the result.

4. Backed up sewer lines

This is another cause of commercial water damage that often catches business owners by surprise. Should the sewer line to your building back up or become damaged, realize the potential dangers of contaminated black water which can cause health effects and ruin products and office furnishings.

SERVPRO of Fayetteville/Springdale should be your first choice for any residential or commercial restoration needs. Our team of professionals is trained to assess the damage and potential threats, extract and contain the affected area, dry, and restore your property to preloss condition.

SERVPRO can Restore All Levels of Commercial Damage in Fayetteville

3/11/2020 (Permalink)

The Three Levels of Commercial Damage

There are 3 levels of commercial damage that are considered:

Level 1 is a small commercial loss typically involving 10,000 square feet or less of affected floor space. If the facility was entirely affected, examples of a small commercial loss may include, but are not limited to, a stand-alone retail establishment, a small church, a daycare facility, a small shopping center, a small warehouse or manufacturing facility, or a stand-alone administrative building. A Level 1 loss can also be a small portion of a much larger structure.

Level 2 is a midsize commercial loss typically involving 10,000 to 60,000 square feet of affected floor space. The building or buildings involved are usually multi-level or greatly divided spaces. If the facility was entirely affected, examples of a Level 2 loss may include, but are not limited to, a small multi-family property, a midsize church or school, a small shopping center, a multi-tenant administration facility, or a midsize warehouse or manufacturing facility. A Level 2 loss can also be just a portion of a much larger structure.

Level 3 is a large commercial loss typically involving more than 60,000 square feet of affected floor space. The building or buildings involved will likely be large multi-level structures. If the facility was entirely affected, examples of a Level 3 loss can include, but are not limited to, a large church, hospital, school, or university; a large multi-family property; a mid- to high-rise retail or administration facility; a large industrial, manufacturing, or warehouse facility; or a large strip-style shopping center or shopping mall. This is the level at which it would be appropriate to refer to the project as a “large loss.”

Once our team determines the level of loss, the property is further assessed, and an appropriate number of team members is dispatched to get the job done quickly and efficiently, and return your business to operation “Like it never even happened.”

Is Your Fayetteville Business Presentation Ready?

3/11/2020 (Permalink)

5 things to help you determine if your business is presentation-ready.

One of the most important things about your business is the way that you present it to your community of potential customers. Whatever style or business culture you have, you can present it your way. Plan to be presentation ready! A professional looking business is a clean one! It’s important that you have clean facilities for your employees and customers to use. Using the professional services from SERVPRO you can count on CLEAN!

Here are five things to help you determine if your business is presentation-ready:

  1. Moldy signage

Your outdoor signage is a direct representation of your brand. You want to represent it in the best way. Over the course of time, that once-shiny sign outside of your commercial space can get dirty and turn into moldy signage. You may even see it and not really notice how dirty it has become over time. But, you know who does? Your customers. The experienced team at SERVPRO are professionals at mold damage and mold remediation. That moldy signage is a “sign” it needs to be cleaned.

  1. Dirty carpets

Foot traffic is great. That means customers are coming in and shopping. However, foot traffic can result in dirty carpets. Depending on where carpeting is in your business, your carpets may be the first thing your customers see, which can form an impression. First impressions are everything. Do you want them to form a positive impression of your business or a negative one? Do you want them to see clean carpets of dirty carpets? As a business owner, these are important questions so think about how you want your facility to look and take action. How your business looks on the inside can be a reflection of your business.

  1. Filthy upholstery

Upholstery can become highly soiled after a period of time. If you have filthy upholstery at your establishment, and if you’re considering throwing it away because it’s dirty, don’t! SERVPRO professionals do professional upholstery cleaning. Instead of pitching it, we can save you money by cleaning it. We can make stains “Like it never even happened.”

  1. Stained tile and grout

Remember when you moved into that commercial building and that tile was nice and white? Now does that grout look like an off-white, brown, or perhaps black? Maybe it looks something like this before photo. Rest assured, we can get it looking like that after photo. SERVPRO of Fayetteville/Springdale can steam clean that stained tile to restore it back to its original color. And if you think your tile is fine, check your grout. Even if you clean and mop your floors on a weekly basis, it’s no match for the dirt and grime that builds up in your grout.

  1. Odor

Your business could have an odor. You may have just become immune to the smell, but what are your customer’s smelling? When your customers walk through the door, they may be getting a whiff of it. SERVPRO specializes in odor removal and deodorization. As experts in deodorization, our heroes are trained to identify and eliminate offensive odors. These odors can come from a number of sources both inside and outside a structure. Allow us to focus on removing the odor so you can focus on increasing your bottom line.

You may think your business is presentation-ready, but your signage, carpets, upholstery, tile and grout and odor are saying otherwise. SERVPRO can help get your business presentation-ready. Give us a call!

The Different Causes of Commercial Water Damage

11/12/2019 (Permalink)

We are happy to help with any commercial losses and restore your business in a flash!

Work Place Water Damage is Restored by SERVPRO

When business owners think of water damage potentially happening to their property, they often picture a massive storm wiping out power lines, flooding offices, and shutting down businesses for days at a time. It is true that commercial water damage is often the result of floods and water that stems from weather events and storms. However, storms and severe weather aren't the only causes of floods and water damage.

Here are some of the typical causes of water damage to commercial building:

1. Malfunctioning sprinkler systems
Older office and retail buildings still have sprinkler systems that work in conjunction with fire protection systems. While such sprinklers can come in handy during a fire emergency, they can also cause commercial flood damage if they are faulty or in need of replacement. This could easily damage inventory and business assets.

2. Damaged appliances and equipment
Commercial flood damage is more common in restaurants and catering facilities, as well as any business that has appliances and equipment that make use of water. If the appliance fails and sends water across your building, especially during late hours when no one is around, you may come back to work and face a water emergency.

3. Broken pipes and plumbing
If the plumbing system in your workplace fails water damage could be the result. This can happen in different ways, but frozen and broken pipes are the most common. If there is a pipe line break, you could walk into your building to find wet floors and walls or even standing water in the room.

4. Backed up sewer lines

This is another cause of commercial water damage that often catches business owners by surprise. If the sewer line to your building backs up, realize the potential dangers of contaminated water which can cause health effects, ruin products and office furnishings.

If your business has suffered commercial water damage, SERVPRO will get you back up and running again. Call us anytime 24/7 at 479-429-5544 for a quick response to mitigate your water situation.

3 Emergency Power Systems to Consider In Case of an Emergency

10/15/2019 (Permalink)

Generators can be a life and workplace saving device. Should you consider getting a generator?

Storms and other unforeseen factors can cause a power outage which would cause you to have to close down your Fayetteville business, leaving you in an emergency situation. Even without the lights, it will be dangerous to navigate around the building. SERVPRO will need power to mitigate if you have water damage. It is so important to have a backup power source when you need it. Depending on your company’s specific needs and budget, here are a few options for emergency power systems. Consider these so you can be prepared in the case of an emergency.

Standby Generator

The standby generator is one of the more popular options. These are permanent systems, usually located outside the building. Depending on how it is powered: gasoline, diesel, natural gas or liquid propane, these generators are VERY effective and provide a lot of power when in use. This option does require regular maintenance by a professional. This is typically the best option for commercial properties.

Portable Generator

If you want a more budget friendly option, or wouldn’t need to get power to more than a few places, a portable generator may be a better option for you. A portable generator can be moved to a safe, outdoor area and help support the power to your building. If you live in a place where storms are less common, this maybe your best option.

Solar Backup Generator

This option works similarly to a traditional gas powered generator, however, it is reliant upon solar energy. While this is a more “green” option and you don’t have to worry about purchasing gas, but it also can’t power as much as a standby generator.

Which is Best?

The right option for you will depend on your commercial property and specific needs at that location in the case of power loss. Consider all your options to stay prepared for the unexpected events that could happen!

An additional option for your emergency preparedness: An Emergency Ready Profile (ERP)

An ERP lays out all of the utility companies that you use, their contact information as well as information regarding shut-off locations for gas, water and electricity. You can detail an ERP as much as you’d like and add contacts for all employees that may need to be contacted in the event of an emergency. Contact your local SERVPRO if you are interested in getting a FREE and CUSTOMIZED ERP today!

How Pack-Outs are a Part of Water Damage Restoration in Fayetteville

3/27/2019 (Permalink)

SERVPRO's pack-out services allow you to move your furnishings and other items to our storage facility.

Professional Pack-Out is the Cornerstone to Fayetteville Commercial Water Removal Success

Reduce the chaos of commercial water damage mitigation in Fayetteville by considering a pack-out of furnishings, electronics and other equipment, and documents. Choosing to clear the flooded areas of your commercial property makes planning for and implementation of water extraction strategies more efficient. The contents removed also receives the treatments needed to return to function and appearance.

Heavy spring rains and overflow from higher elevations contribute to the need for professional water removal in your Fayetteville business. Packing up and moving out contents is often a smart initial step. When commercial spaces are free of inventory, stored items, and other portable items the removal of excess water becomes more straightforward. Without the added humidity-load of saturated contents, it is easier and quicker to accomplish structural drying.

SERVPRO uses a structured Contents Claim Inventory Service (CCIS) protocol to ensure the items we pack out are inventoried thoroughly and tracked throughout the process. Lists of packed contents for each space, digital photographs of articles removed, and the option of barcoding for speed and accuracy provide safeguards for commercial clients.

Insurance claims for water damage need documentation for certain payment. The SERVPRO CCIS establishes the condition of each item packed out, the planned cleaning and drying strategies we believe appropriate, and the results of the treatments completed at our climate-controlled production facility. If an article is not restorable, the need for a replacement is proven.

SERVPRO production facility technicians have innovative equipment and specialized training to bring even extensively damaged items back to preloss condition. The resources available to our employees include vacuum freeze-drying systems for documents, books, and photographs. Thermal chambers for electronics and small, easy to control drying spaces for furnishings pull moisture out of dozens of essential artifacts critical to the operation of your business. Industrial washers and dryers and access to dry cleaning services or specialized equipment that cleans and dries soft items set our company apart from traditional cleaning businesses.

At your commercial building, our technicians use the freedom granted by cleared spaces to pump out and extract standing water fast. SERVPRO crews then use structural drying techniques taught at IICRC training to make it “Like it never even happened” at your business property before welcoming back the restored packed out items. The final step is business as usual.

SERVPRO of Fayetteville / Springdale stands ready to help with every aspect of commercial water removal. Call for a quick evaluation at (479) 419-5544.

Commercial water removal in a Johnson hotel or motel usually involves getting standing water out and then lifting moisture from floors and carpets. SERVPRO has decades of experience with both of these tasks and does our best to keep owners satisfied.

Our IICRC-certified technicians start with pumps. We use them to remove water over two inches deep in rooms, hallways, and common areas. Clearing each room is a matter of minutes, and larger rooms like a lobby or a conference room often take no more than half an hour. We can remove water from even a large motel in less than a day.

Once we remove the water, or if it is less than two inches deep, SERVPRO brings in water extraction wands. These devices look like a commercial grade water vacuum but are much more versatile. We can adjust the speed and airflow to ensure we remove water and moisture without damaging carpets or floor surfaces.

Drawing out water at this point takes longer since we have to examine completed areas by touch. An average sized room takes a half to a full hour. We can finish many rooms for occupancy in a single day. If the power has been interrupted, we can bring in a generator to provide uninterrupted electrical support until we complete every water removal task.

In some cases, the flooding leaves the air very humid and uncomfortable for guests. When this happens, our technicians set up a series of air movers and exhaust fans to lower the humidity levels. The air movers generate warm, dry air to replace the cooler, damp air drawn out by the fans.

SERVPRO of Fayetteville / Springdale understands how important it is for a business to keep its doors open every possible day and hour. If you are dealing with a flooding problem, call our office today at (479) 419-5544 to schedule a work crew. We are here to help.

Sports Venue Suffers Flood Damage In Springdale

10/4/2017 (Permalink)

We have the experience needed to remove water and dry out batting cages, locker rooms, and snack bars restoring the entire sports campus to new.

Commercial Storm Damage Restoration

Seasonal storms pack a powerful punch, causing significant flood damage in Northwest Arkansas. Some businesses are at particular risk of serious harm to structure and fixtures, including those featuring expanses of hardwood flooring that are both handsome and chosen for a commercial purpose. Restoration of the hardwood after flooding is crucial for the business to continue.

Basketball and volleyball players and teams demand the smoothness and spring only a maple or other hardwood floor offers. When heavy rains and winds cause flood damage to your Springdale sports center, you are in danger of permanent closure if speedy remediation and restoration, especially of the flooring, does not occur. We have the experience and training needed to remove water and dry out multiple gyms, batting cages, locker rooms, snack bars, and meeting areas, returning the entire sports campus to its preloss condition.

Many inches of water flowed and collected on the courts and practice areas of the sports complex as saturated soil, and wind-ravaged roofs exacerbated the flooding. Fast action is required, and SERVPRO crews arrive with high-efficiency submersible pumps and water extractors, vehicle-mounted to begin the flood abatement whether or not the power failed during the storm.

Once the majority of the water is removed, our workers position powerful air movers and dehumidifiers to reduce the moisture content of all structural elements and fixtures. SERVPRO technicians receive advanced training in drying hardwood floors using a range of techniques. Drying mats pull water from the polished playing layer and through to the subfloor, as wet materials underlying the court or gym floor continuously sent moisture wicking into the hardwood.

Throughout the process our team members measure moisture levels in all affected areas and materials, first to establish drying goals, and second to demonstrate that adequate drying is achieved. Loosening and raising some areas of the hardwood planks allows air to circulate, accelerating the drying. We also may drill holes in strategic places to allow water vapor to escape, and consider removing some of the protective finish for the same reason. SERVPRO workers persist until the right combinations of methods result in a return to normal moisture levels, usually below 12 percent for wood floors, so that any sanding and refinishing completes the job.

SERVPRO of Fayetteville / Springdale has the balance of skilled workers and modern equipment to deliver a successful flood damage abatement in a large recreational facility. Call (479) 419-5544 as soon as possible to get the restoration rolling.

Mold Damage in Fayetteville Storage Facilities

5/19/2017 (Permalink)

Many people turn to using a storage unit at one or several times in their lives. Make sure that a mold infestation in your business does not spread.

Quick Action is Key to Preventing a Mold Infestation From Growing

In a college town, students take advantage of self-storage facilities to secure belongings between semesters or when they study abroad. This plan works well for the traveling scholars and is a great business opportunity for the owner of the storage company until mildew or mold infiltrates one or more units. SERVPRO has the experience to respond when microbial growth gets out of control and threatens your business.

Problems arise when water leaks inside or moisture otherwise raises the humidity level high enough to support commercial mold damage in your Fayetteville self-storage business. Your tenants often put their stored property out of their mind and rarely visit to inspect the areas rented. Mold needs no light to grow, so hidden pockets proliferate. Your offer to protect customers’ belongings is at risk if microbes grow unabated. When you discover mold in the storage common areas or rented rooms, your first step must include lining up a reliable remediation company.

SERVPRO trains its staff to follow proper EPA protocols when molds are an issue. When an inspection of your facility reveals mold contamination, quick but sure action is the only answer. Qualified restoration staff contain and remove mold, and then sanitize the area where mold grew. The interconnected storage units pose a challenge if a common HVAC system heats, cools, and clears the air. Well trained remediation staff choose to use air scrubbers with negative air pressure to keep the mold outbreak confined to just the one unit.

Mold remediation is incomplete if the source of water is ignored. Mold spores are always present, inside and out. They mature into mold colonies when moisture feeds them. The mold experts from SERVPRO took advanced classes to help find the water causing the problem. Flat roofs with clogged drains, cracked cinder block walls, high humidity, and flooding are just some of the things leading to mold growth. This mold remediation expert has dozens of practical suggestions to prevent future microbial growth based upon finding and securing leaks and other water incursions.

Sometimes unit tenants bring the wetness and mold risk into the storage area. SERVPRO works with you, offering tips to inspect the contents and advise customers to limit the mold growth you invite when you rent to careless lessees.

SERVPRO of Fayetteville / Springdale guides your storage business through the stress of mold remediation. Call (479) 419-5544 to set up a consultation right away.

Fayetteville Commercial Water Removal

Call SERVPRO to Keep Your Fayetteville Business High and Dry

Rely on SERVPRO to Extract Water and Mitigate Damages to Your Business

Damage to your business doesn't require hundreds of gallons of water rushing in all at once. Many problems can result from just an inch or two that soaks into carpets, walls and furniture. Even this small amount of water can cost a huge amount loss regarding cleaning and replacing property.

Handling commercial water damage in Fayetteville is more time consuming and difficult than just removing water from a private home. Commercial buildings are much larger and use a wider number of different building materials. Fortunately, SERVPRO has the training, equipment and experience to handle these structures as well.

Take a showroom floor in a furniture store for example. Hundreds of square feet of floor space that needs to be pumped out if there is standing water. This task would take an hour or two in most homes, but it's an all day job in this situation.

When the majority of the water has been removed, technicians need to draw out excess moisture from the surrounding air. In a home, this task can be accomplished with a few exhaust fans. For a large structure, commercial air movers have to be put in place throughout the area to maintain a steady airflow with fans set up to blow the moist air out of the facility. In large commercial loss situations, we can truck in desiccant and refrigerated dehumidifiers. If the air is exceptionally humid, then they will also deploy large dehumidifiers capable of drawing out over 30 gallons of water daily to assist.

As this happens, other technicians examine the carpets and other flooring for remaining water. In a home, a single wet vacuum can draw out the water from most carpets and the pad underneath in an afternoon if they haven't been overly saturated. Large, commercial, water extractors are needed for rooms with extensive square feet. This process can take all day and require several SERVPRO team members working in tandem to complete the job.

The size of most commercial structures means that a rapid response is needed even more than with a private home. This is why SERVPRO of Fayetteville/Springdale maintains a 24-hour response team trained to help you get your doors opened and taking care of your customers as fast as we can. To get everything started, call us at (479) 419-5544.
